Christmas Software Download Bonanza!!

Greetings, fellow fans, I have for you an important announcement to make: In the coming up to  Christmas Day, I have decided to bless you with a few software downloads a day, just like one one of those Advent calendars. Starts December 1st. Demo's, small games, trailers, software, i dunno even good programs and updates for your pc/mac. Just keep your eyes peeled and give me the ideas and you will get them. Pre-Order Wii games and release dates Part 2!

Hello. Yes, this is the rest of the list of the Wii games. So let’s get cracking!

Mario Sports Mix  Release Date: TBC   Price for pre-order: £39.99

Maybe slightly expensive but wow, this is the good game. There are a variety of sports like basketball, and ice-hockey, and I’m guessing it would make the perfect multiplayer game. It’s sport from the Nintendo classic, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games, But with a comic and party twist. That’s all I’ve got, let’s wait and see!

deBlob 2: Underground  Release Date: 25/03/2011  Price for Pre-Order: £24.99  

In de Blob 2: The Underground, Comrade Black is back and so is his war on colour. Disguised as Papa Blanc, Comrade Black rigs the city’s election in order to win and take control of Prisma City with his brainwashing new cult. That is, until de Blob bounces back in full color-spreading force with his revolution to restore colour and life back to the city and its residents. In the colourful sequel, de Blob will paint his way through the enormous and pollution-filled Prisma City accompanied by a fantastic new interactive soundtrack and an arsenal of new tricks to confound his enemies. Joining de Blob will be a new robot sidekick, named Pinky, who will help him blast enemies, disable traps, and negotiate the challenging levels of Prisma City. The game will also present players with new side quests, which allow players to upgrade de Blob’s abilities. de Blob 2: The Underground will feature an in-depth single-player campaign with all-new power-ups and challenges, as well as multiplayer modes that support co-operative and competitive play.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn    Release Date: TBC   Price for Pre-order: £39.99

This will be the first Kirby Platform game on a console since Nintendo 64!!! It’s a very nice game, with a similar layout to Mario Bros. There are very appealing graphics, they are very colourful. So Kirby’s adventure here is made to look completely woollen! Just like Paper Mario but without the paper. Here’s Kirby taking on an enemy.

Donkey Kong Country, Returns!     Release Date: only 4 days left!!!  Price:£39.99

Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong return, in their new game! Again, they are releasing a platform game just like the old days (well, not so old) where they both fight against the evil Tiki’s which have stolen bananas from the DK island. Nintendo are releasing the old NES classic with familiar characters but new levels. One thing I can say, this is going to be good!

Epic Mickey     Release Date: Released 3 days ago!!!       Price:£29.99:

This is a “epic” game where one plays as Mickey Mouse who tries to save the world from the trouble he himself created! After a world being made by a sorcerer and his magic paint brush, he decides on making his own when everything goes horribly wrong. Harness the power of the paintbrush and mould this new world and save everone from this cartoon wasteland!

Pre-Order Wii games and release dates

It’s been ages since we’ve talked about the wii, it’s all been iPad this, Kinect that, and we really haven’t thought about it. But Nintendo literally have masses of games on their Preorder chart at the moment and it would be a shame if we did not touch up upon them because there is a diverse variety of really good games from the stars of Nintendo being released coming up until Christmas. So here’s a huge list…

Tron Evolution    Release Date: 26/11/2010 (just been released)       Price: £19.99

Tron Evolution explores the story behind the very popular Disney movie (which hasn’t been released yet) Tron Legacy. It provides insight into the films past and is recommended for people who would like to see the movie. It’s very futuristic, and it’s based on a special disc-combat, which is used in the Tron mythology.

So what’s the game like? Ok from what I gather, there are good graphics and it’s in the action and adventure genre. It involves battles and racing, but that’s all I know.

Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time   Release Date: 26/11/10 (just been released)    Price: £24.99

Rabbids are a completely new race and have come to earth to demolish humans and you’re invited every step of the way.

Visit the history museum and turn the place upside down as you uncover every secret the museum has to offer. Play over 20 new minigames with your friends, and will keep you company! 

Star Wars III: The Clone Wars    Release Date: ???  Price:  £29.99 

Lego Star Wars brings star wars into action and also brings the Wii into action. Play either Jedi or Separatist with all new character abilities such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple tie-ups, all within a tiny disc.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword    Release Date: ???  Price: £34.99   

This will probably be the best game ever released so far in the Zelda series, using Wii Motion Plus and the nunchuck, you can control Link’s actions like never before

Samsung Galaxy Tab vs. Apple iPad

 

Obviously most people are thinking “Well it’s an iPad, of course it’s better.” Well Samsung has unleashed a new power……. The NEW Samsung Galaxy Tab!

But how does it do against the iPad, well….

Display: Winner Apple iPad

The iPad incorporates a touch-sensitive IPS display that measures 9.7 inches across. It is undoubtedly an amazing screen, boasting a resolution of 768 x 1,024 pixels.

Samsung has gone for a slightly smaller display in the Galaxy Tab but it still is an impressive amount of 7 inches. All in all, the Galaxy Tab is 600 x 1,024 pixels o it makes the iPad win this round. And of course, it’s HD!

Size & Weight: Winner Samsung Galaxy Tab

Despite its size, the Apple iPad measures 242.8 x 189.7 x 13.4 mm and weighs 680g altogether (it feels a lot lighter when you put it on your hands). With its 7-inch display, the Galaxy Tab is obviously a lot smaller.

Samsung's quoted dimensions are 190.09 x 120.45 x 11.98mm, which makes it thinner than Apple's device. The Galaxy Tab weighs 380g so it is nearly half the iPad’s weight.

We say that it is a draw because The Galaxy Tab is more portable, has Android, is a better book and has a video caller. The iPad is HD ready, got a better system and is the bigger version of the Galaxy Tab. It is supposed to be a computer without a keyboard that has things like apps as well as the iPhone.  

Wireless: Winner Samsung Galaxy Tab

This is considering you buy the simple WiFi+3G iPad. Galaxy has arguably better connectivity and you can make phone calls and send and receive SMS/MMS and there is very good wireless and Bluetooth.

Storage: Winner Galaxy Tab (Let’s call it a draw)

Both Products have many options depending on how much you want to spend.

Camera: Galaxy Tab (obviously iPad doesn’t have one)

Though the new iPad coming out after Christmas will have one plus much, much more.

Overall Decision: Draw

We say that it is a draw because The Galaxy Tab is more portable, has Android, is a better book and has a video caller. The iPad is HD ready, got a better system and is the bigger version of the Galaxy Tab. It is supposed to be a computer without a keyboard that has things like apps as well as the iPhone.  

They’ve both got good stuff in it and the decisions are often controversial, However, if you ask me, I would by the iPad after Christmas because of the iPad’s beautiful design and its sheer simplicity both in the design and in the OS. Plus there will be many additions (We’ll post this later). But that’s just me!

iPad vs. Kindle,               which is better as a book

This is a real tough question, iPad or Kindle? The iPad has some really good advantages such as the applications and the built in microphone. And the Amazon Kindle also has some advantages such as the dictionary, the keyboard and the eBook reader. So, which one’s better, iPad or Kindle?   

Readability: Winner Amazon Kindle

Even though the iPad’s IPS LCD screen has technically contrasts a lot more than the Kindle, it manages an excellent way of reading, even through direct sunlight. And the lack of a 60Hz refresh rate makes it easier on the eyes over many hours.

Graphics: Winner Apple iPad

After a win by the Amazon Kindle, I have to say the Kindle has pretty rubbish graphics. It just makes any old newspaper like a technological triumph. For magazines and other stuff like that, the Kindle truly can’t compare. 

Portability: Winner Amazon Kindle

I have to admit they’re both really good and they can both fit even in a packed schoolbag, but when it comes to compare, the Kindle wins by miles! Measuring only 0.34 inches and 8.7 ounces, the Kindle makes the 0.5 inch-thick and 24 ounce iPad feel really heavy.

Battery Life: Winner Amazon Kindle

The iPad itself holds an impressive amount of 10hrs of charge, but to read a book it’s not enough and to charge it up again it will take another 10hrs. However, the Amazon Kindle holds up to a mammoth amount of 10 DAYS! And the 3G? Three weeks.

 Library: Winner Apple iPad

You could count forever comparing Apple’s iTunes book library to Amazon’s Kindle library, but the simple fact is this: The Kindle can only access Amazon’s library, the iPad can access Apple’s iTunes store, the Amazon Kindle store, Barnes & Noble’s Nook library, and more, all through apps.

Price: Winner Amazon Kindle

 The Kindle is sold at a price of $139 for a Wi-Fi only version, and $189 for a version with lifetime 3G access for downloading books on the go. The cheapest Wi-Fi iPad runs for $499, and the 3G $629 plus data charges of at least $15 monthly by AT&T.

Overall Winner: Amazon Kindle

Ok, yes it’s true. The Amazon Kindle is better than the iPad in reading books. But that’s only in reading books, don’t forget.
